It’s a small world. I first met Bob Stilger at the cabin Of Charlie and Ann Wood. Charlie and Ann are interesting people magnets. Their brilliance and compassion draw committed and active people to them. Bob and his family were among those gathered on a spring morning long ago to beat back the winter damage to a cabin. In the course of cutting, chopping, and clearing, I found a man who’s keen intellect was focused squarely on making our world a better place for us all. And I found a life long friend. So it is with delight I pass along this word from my friend:

At the Spokane Symphony last night (which was great), I found myself thinking about the Tour again. I realized my messages to you all have been kind of -transactional- and that I’ve not shared what I’m excited about. Let me do that now. AND, our new e-flyer is below.
I’m excited about this Tour for three reasons: Meg, Women’s Leadership, and Berkana. I’ll tell you why:
I’ve been blessed to work with lots of people over the years and I’ve worked closely with Meg since 2000. What can I say? She is a dear friend and I have immense respect for her. In working together over the last 7 years I’ve learned so much. These days I’m concerned about beliefs, values and principles - the guidance system for life affirming leadership, rather than rules, policies and procedures - the refuge of flat-faced bureaucracies. Meg has an incredible voice - she is able to name patterns and possibilities in ways that make them widely accessible. She’s able to invite in the conversation that wants to happen in the room. I want you to meet her!
Most people I’m sending this e-mail to have know me for years. You probably know that most of my work has been with women as my closest colleagues. I’ve been able to do good work in the world largely because of the presence of strong women who have offered their leadership. I know that Kofi Anan’s quote is true. I’ve seen it in Spokane, and I’ve seen it in Harare, Zimbabwe. Women lead the way. I want to invite you to come together with other women of all ages who yearn for new possibilities - and who will put their passion behind the birth of those possibilities.
Finally, it’s time for Berkana to stand up in Spokane. We’ve moved our administrative offices here two years ago and I’ve kept a low profile in the community. Much of my work and my time has been spent out in the rest of the world. I know that now is time to bring the work home. I want to invite you to come and learn what you can from the rest of the world. Please join us.

The Women’s Leadership Revival Tour
is coming to Spokane on April 12th, 2007
Join Margaret Wheatley and neighborhood women for a stimulating and inspiring inquiry into how we women can step forward with the gift of our leadership and offer it in service to our community.
The Event:
This is an evening’s exploration, conversation and celebration with Margaret (Meg) and many women from the local community. Meg will seed the conversation by describing the impact that women are having in communities around the world, and then lead us in an inquiry about our own leadership. As well as being inspired by Meg’s wonderful stories and experiences, we know that you will encourage, provoke and inspire one another. Also, there will be opportunities to continue the conversation with local women after this event. Music and poetry will be part of this festive gathering and refreshments will be served.
